Phra Ruang and Phra Lue were very close brothers, but there was always a challenge or competition for them to fight each other. One day, Phra Ruang and Phra Lue played polo together. They used a coconut with the fire instead of a polo. The area which the two hits was burned and trees could not grow up there. The area was called "Den Phra Ruang Tee Khlee", referring to an area in Ramkhamhaeng National Park, which is a vast yard located on the east side of Khao Luang

One day, Phra Ruang asked Phra Cue to compete creating pyramid towers. It seemed that Phra Lue would win Phra Ruang. Phra Ruang kicked the top of the tower until it fell to the Phitsanulok. It was believed that the tower was built by Phra Ruang was a Stupa of Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Worramahawihan Temple, Si Satchanalai. The tower was built by Phra Lue was Phra Mutao. The broken top of the pagoda next to the Stupa to the west was gone. The top of the pagoda kicked by Phra Ruang was a pagoda of Rat Burana Temple, Nan River, near Phra Buddha Chinarat Temple.

Traphang Thong Temple in Muang District, Sukhothai Province, where there were the archaeological sites on Traphang Island with the hall facing the west was unlike other temples. It was said that this temple was built by E-Mae, Phra Ruang's daughter-in-law to compete with Phra Ruang in creating the hall. E-Mae was hard-working, so she finished the hall in one night along with the hall of Mahathat Temple built by Phra Ruang. However, the hall, unlike the others, faced the wrong direction due to haste.
