Phra Ruang and Spirit of Sukhothai

Phra Ruang Branch
It was said that once Phra Ruang ran after the kite and he wanted to excrete. He stopped to excrete on the way and when he finished, he cut a branch to clean. Then he threw the branch away. It appeared that that branch was restored to life and bred over the area with a smell of excrement. The tree was called "Kang Khee Phra Ruang" or "Chum Ra Phra Ruang". Its scientific name was Celtis timorensis, a plant in the family of Cannabaceae. It is a perennial plant that has a fecal odor. Wikipedia provides very interesting information about this tree. It can be concluded that there are other names such as Takai, Mahad Nam, Yueng, Mon Dong, Taimaitanthao, Khee Phra Ruang, Man Plalai, Chedkon Phrachao, Chedtood Phra Ruang, etc. It is found in the forest and today is very rare. In 2016, in Ramkhamhaeng National Park, only one tree was found. It has a thin bark and hard root. It is also quite hard to plant and look after. Its bark is not used in construction but often used as a drug to remove parasitic worms in children or blending as a treatment for cholera, including to remove parasitic in fighting cocks and it was believed that it was sacred. If you carry it with yourself, it can eliminate ghosts and demons.
