Promoting sustainable in handicraft manufacturers in Sukhothai and Kamphaeng Phet offers an opportunity to meet the requirements or standards for achieving sustainable services and the Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria (GSTC) requirements that serves as the global standards for sustainability in travel and tourism.

Designated Areas for Sustainable Tourism Administration (Public Organization) under the Department of Environmental Quality Promotion has annually implemented the project to promote participation in environmentally friendly product (Green Product).

The handcrafted products were found NOT to; generate pollution complaints, use illegal labour, have customer complaints, use illegal raw materials, and use chemical production comply with laws. Additionally, the participated manufacturers must reduce the environmental impact of supply chains (Green Supply Chain) referring to policy, occupational health and safety measures, production and packaging of raw materials, waste management, conservation of resource and energy. Its application leads to an efficient use of resources, and reduction in the amount of pollution.
