Woven fabric products of the Chao Wang Weaving Community Enterprise

Si Satchanalai

The Chao Wang Weaving Community Enterprise engages in the production of traditional and contemporary fabric patterns, drawing inspiration from local resources. Their product line includes sarongs, bags, earrings, mask straps, and clothing.

The enterprise offers a collection of nine meticulously hand-woven patterns known as Tha Chai brocade fabric, each bearing the distinct identity of the Tha Chai brocade pattern. These products have been thoughtfully curated to enhance their aesthetic appeal, making them ideal as souvenirs for tourists. The unique patterns draw inspiration from local landmarks and cultural elements such as

- The Phra Prang Bridge pattern finds its inspiration in the architectural features of the Phra Prang Temple Bridge, which spans the Yom River between Ban Wang Yai Mak Village and Phra Prang Temple. The design is derived from the bridge's significance in local merit-making traditions.

- Influenced by the unique meandering path of the Yom River around Phra Prang Temple, the Yom River Curve pattern seeks to capture the river's distinctively curved shape, reminiscent of a chicken intestine.

- The captivating wirework found in silverware and goldware at Wat Nang Phaya serves as the muse for the exquisite Wat Nang Phaya pattern, characterized by its hand-woven beauty and uniqueness.

- The Side Bridge pattern draws its inspiration from the triangular side view of a bridge, offering a distinct and striking design perspective.

- Drawing from the picturesque view of the Yom River's waves, the Water Wave pattern embodies the flowing essence of the river, which serves as the primary water source for the community.

- Reflecting the community's affinity for fishing, the Yom River fish pattern showcases an abundance of fish, embodying the local way of life.

- Offering a fresh and unique perspective, the Upper angle bridge pattern presents a new interpretation of the bridge from an elevated vantage point.

- Inspired by the prevalent sugarcane farming in the community, the Sugarcane pattern pays homage to the predominantly agricultural way of life.

- The fish, water waves and woven basket pattern artfully combine elements of the Yom River's aquatic ecosystem and the traditional craft of basket weaving, creating an evocative portrayal of fish swimming beneath the river's waves.

- The Creeper pattern draws from the ornate silverware and goldware traditions of the community, infusing elements from Wat Nang Phaya's patterns into beautiful fabric designs.
