Royal temple at Muang Si Satchanalai
(Si Satchanalai Historical Park, Si Satchanalai District, Sukhothai)
There are many historical attractions in Muang Si Satchanalai, but one of large temple is Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat where is still restored and there are monks staying in the temple

Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Temple or Phra Boromthat Muang Chalieng Temple, and the others name is Phra Prang Temple. There is archaeological evidences that found that this temple age is approximately 800 years.

consists of the important construction as follows
  • The principal Prang is made of plastered laterite and painted with Chad color with architectural pattern characteristics that are artistic work in Ayuddhaya period. Inside the arch hall, there is a pagoda which is small bud lotus emerging. This is an evidence that the overlay is built. In the interior of the prang, there are many traces of mural paintings but fade away a much. The front of the courtyard has a staircase to the prang. The base of this pagoda is a three-storey with stifling walls and light penetration. When looking at the base of the pagoda extends to 3 sides (the front is the temple) ) resembling a pagoda or pagoda inside. It was built during the beginning of Sukhothai period. Because of the ancient foundations of the building, that bricked under the base of the royal temple. They also found the eaves tiles with Apsara and God. These are contemporary Cambodian art. As well as the stucco molding of the top of arch door of temple wall which is made up of the face of Avalokiteshvara located on the top of the four arches with Angkor Thom in Cambodia, below is an angel sitting in the arch frame and below this is a photo of Apsara danced.
  • Base of Luang Pho To Temple Temple is in front of the prang, there is a large attitude of subduing Mara Buddha image is set in the middle and pressed on two sides with 5 small standing Buddha next to the attitude of subduing Mara Buddha image in the right side of the graceful walking Buddha statue.
  • Temple wall is a large round laterite bar stitched in a rectangular shape, 60 meters width, 90 meters length. There is a shaft place on top of wall, the entrance is at the back. The arch is shaped like a roof. Above the arch is a stucco statue of four Avalokiteshvara's faces in front of the arched door Angkor Thom of Cambodia.
  • Phra That Mutao is behind the prang, outside the low wall surrounding a pagoda. It is also surrounded by laterite walls made of thin squared bars which is likely different with the laterite wall made of large pieces of Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Chalieng Temple. The relics of Mutao is made of laterite base that is a four-storeyed square, then is likely capsized water lily 3-storey, the upper is collapsed. The characteristics of Phra That Mutao is mon pagoda. In the excavation of the year BE 2535, it is found Jang Ko gold decorated the top of the pagoda. Attharasa mondop, is behind Phra That Mutao, may be mondop with four gestures. The roof is roofed with wooden tiles. Later, the Buddha image in the three other actions have damaged. These may restore and modify the remaining standing Buddha image is only in the arched space.
  • Song Pi Nong Temple Temple is on the left side of Phra Attharasa. This temple is constructed with laterite and there are two stucco attitude of subduing Mara Buddha images on the altar. It is explored that the base of Song Pi Nong Temple is put on the top of the bricked ancient building from the archaeological excavation. It is also discovered the base of Buddha's footprints at the right of the temple
  • Temple the Buddhist monastery is located in front of the temple. Now, the restoration has been done by building on the top of the original temple.
  • Kudhi Phra Ruang – Phra Lue is called by folk people "Phra Luang Phra Lue Shrine", built up in the same year as the Buddhist monastery. Mondop's base is widely square. Roof is four-storey mounded brick. The shrine was originally installed two icons. The appearance is similarly appareled and acted as sitting Buddha image, but wearing hat. Villagers believe that it is a sculpture of both brothers Phra Ruang and Phra Lue, heroes of the beginning of Phra Ruang Sukhothai ancestry in the northern chronicles. Now, both sculptures have been exhibited at Ramkhamhaeng National Museum, Sukhothai.
