Neon Prasat King Phra Ruang

Tales from palm forest.
Originally, Noen Prasat was a wooden building with the brick base, roofing with earthenware. And then, it has been a long time, the building is gradually decayed. The wood is broken and those tiles slide down to the side of the building. And then, it piled up into a mound and it is the highest mound in Sukhothai city. Until 2376 BE when Rama IV was still ordained, he came to this temple and found the stone and the large slab of polished stone believing that it is Phra Thaen Manang Silabat. Somdej Phra Maha Monastery Krom Phraya Pawaresawariyalongkon has written the events of that time in the literary work "Miraculous apparitions" as the villagers in the ancient Sukhothai believed that it was the holy place calling "Noen Prasat"
Nowadays, Noen Prasat has been excavated by the Fine Arts Department appearing the building's base constructing from bricks and found the antiquities, such as the roof tiles, the celadon collection, the Qingbai wares, and Khmer wares which are the oldest of wares unearthed in Sukhothai. It emphasized that this area has been used to benefit people, but there is no definite conclusion that they used it for what. Nowadays, academics assumed that it's not
the Royal Palace. It might be the meeting place of the locals called the "Pavilion League" or it could be the hall of Wat Mahathat because there is the moat surrounding the temple and the Noen Prasat. Thus, it could be the hospital for distributing herbal medicine because they found the mortar and pestle there.
