Wat Asokaram

Wat Saladdaii Originally
People in the area called "Wat Saladdai" because the tree that is cactus family is within the temple. However, when the Fine Arts Department excavated the stone inscription that mentioned the construction of a temple called "Wat Asokaram". The name of this temple may be from the name of his son of Maha Thammaracha Vlll of Sukhothai kingdom.

In 1942 BE, to enshrine relics from Lanka, Her Majesty Queen planted trees such as Sarapee, Bunnag, Phikul, mango, jackfruit, wood apple, coconut to make the temple pleasant and inviting the Sangha Sangha to govern the temple. The name of this temple may come from Her Majesty Queen's youngest son's name, "Ashoka." In this inscription said the honor to Her Majesty Queen that she has the five attributes of a beautiful woman including the beauty of hair, the beauty of flesh, the beauty of bones, the beauty of complexion, and the charm of youth. Her Majesty Queen has a great royal and noble title. She focuses on charity and worships Triratna. Yet, at the end of the inscription states, she desires to be reborn "as a man" to be ordained and to reach the highest dharma. Wat Asokaram at this time has the lotus-bud Pagoda which remained only the layered base, and the top has completely collapsed surrounding by the pagodas. The front has the Grand Viharn, and nearby has the mondops enshrined the Buddha image which has been also collapsed. Moreover, this temple is another temple where we can know the original name of it from the stone inscription.
