Wat Chedi Si Hong

Elephant, lio and Naga who are the guardians of this religious place.
This temple is located opposite Wat Chetupon that is outside the of city wall. Even the pagoda is a bit small-scale, but it can be used. "Small is beautiful" is a description of the worth as well. The name "Pagoda Si Hong" is the same name that villagers called. No one did not know what that means or it may refer to the base of the rectangular pagoda.

The main pagoda is the bell-shaped Pagoda locating on the rectangular base. There is the special point that four sides of the base are decorated with stucco sculptures of the people who wear the beautiful clothes stacking with many layers of its. Some have two hands, and some have four hands. Thus, everybody will hold a cauldron with flower or flora protruding, called "Puranakata" which means "the pot of abundance." Although the heads of these portraits are no longer, the traces of the fallen stucco of a person appeared like a five-headed naga. This kind of pattern is quite found in Lanka as the "Human-Naga" who is the land keeper, and the guardian of religious places alternating with elephant stuccos and lion stuccos. The main Pagoda has been renovated several times. The original top of pagoda was collapsed on the side of the pagoda until now. Inside, there has been an unearthed dungeon written with flora pattern designs and gilding it (to paint the gold on red background). Moreover, they found the Buddha image and "Nangpaya Sanechan Buddhist Votive Tablet" containing around. However, the main pagoda also has several Pagoda surrounding.
In front of the pagoda is a very large Viharn. Even though most of the roofs and walls are completely collapsed, it is still enough condition left to be seen as a thick wall. Inside, there are still traces of a large Buddha image made of bricks. However, there is only the last part of the thighs (lap) left. To construct the large building with the thick and tall walls was not popular in an era when the Sukhothai arts prospered, but it is popular in the Ayutthaya arts which corresponds to the area that was not far from the ancient road known as "Phra Ruang Road" that connects Sukhothai with Kamphaeng Phet which is one of the strongholds of Ayudhya that try to force the power to cover Sukhothai.
Near the temple, there is a small chapel surrounded by Bai Sema locating on the hill separating from the main building. In the Sukhothai period, the chapel is less important than the temple because it is a meeting place for monks for making sacrifices. Then, they do not build to be large and often build it separately from the main buildings of the temple. Therefore, several temples have no chapels. It can assume that there are not many monks in the temple. They can use the chapel in conjunction with other temples.
