Wat Phra Phai Lhuang

The center of old power and the battlefield of Thai liberty.
In the total area outside the Sukhothai city walls, there are no temples that are as spacious as Phra Phai Lhuang that surrounded by a large moat called "Mae Jone". So, this is only one reason for this temple is important.

Wat Phra Phai Lhuang is the largest site among all the temple outside the City Wall. The place is surrounded by a big moat. There is none of pagoda but three Prang (corn-cob stupas) standing on the one base. Plenty of stuccos remain, including statues of the Buddha, his disciples, devas, gold tracery and foliage motifs. Inside the Prang is a chamber with an empty altar of the ancient Khmer art. This temple’s structures include various kinds of architecture as they had been extended to the front. It is considered the earliest arts of Sukhothai period.
