Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Ratchaworawihan, Amphoe Si Satchanalai, Sukhothai Province, is the place where the holy sculpture is enshrined, which was originally made from black ivory. King Naresuan the Great, the heir of the Phra Ruang dynasty, once came to pay homage. Later, the locals built a bronze version instead and they still worship with kites. Local worshippers continue to use kites in their religious practices, believing that Phra Ruang the elder prefers white kites, while Phra Lue the younger prefers red kites. It is believed that Phra Ruang and Phra Lue can grant all wishes. Worshippers customarily offer small kites as a gesture of homage and to make a wish, and upon the granting of their wishes, they offer larger kites. Within the Phra Ruang and Phra Lue Kuti, numerous kites of varying sizes are displayed, indicative of the unwavering faith tied to this practice.
